On Friday, August 22 at 5pm, Goodpasture’s PTO hosted a Back to School Bash for all students and families. This bash is a yearly tradition at the beginning of the year that takes place the same day as Goodpasture’s first home football game of the year.
Thanks to this year’s sponsors, Lending Hand Mortgage and Structural Design Group, families and students received free gate entry for all attending the football game.
The Bash included all kinds of exciting activities for students and families to participate in. These activities included: Tinsel Tent (hair tinsel), Fantasy Face Artistry (face painting), Balloon Artists, Boy Scouts with Lawn Games, The Photo Bus (photo booth), Rolling Video Games, and Shep’s Cards & Collectibles (sports cards).
A variety of sweet and savory food trucks were present on campus.
The savory food trucks included: Meat Sweats (BBQ), Cali Dogs (burgers and hot dogs), Cancun Lagoon (tacos), Livvi’s Lunchbox (salads, sandwiches, and kids’ meals), Mikey’s Pizza, and Chang Noi (Thai food).
The sweet food trucks included: Everbowl (açaí bowls & smoothies), The Pink Truck (ice cream, cookies and desserts), Frosted Luau (lactose-free soft serve), and B&B Boba (bubble tea and other drinks).
“The best part of the Back to School Bash was the food. It was the best part because of all the unique flavors,” sophomore Cameron McGaughy said.
The football game took place at 7pm against Glencliff High School, with Goodpasture winning with a score of 50-7. During half-time, the children who attended this summer’s cheer camp performed their special routines to showcase how hard they worked to practice.
“The atmosphere, environment, and energy was the best! It was great seeing that many people at the game and how family oriented it was. It was exciting to hang in the student section and get to make so many memories,” senior Aspen Finch said.
As the football game ended, a firework finale wrapped up the night and started the school year off with a bang.
“I love getting to see all of our school spirit for our Goodpasture Cougars! Our football, band, cheer, and dance team are outstanding,” Student Body President Presley Cavender said. “We are all one big family and we have such a great community here at GCS.”
