Goodpasture’s boys soccer team had a successful season last year, ending with a record of 11-6-1.
The team has a roster of thirty-plus players to split into a varsity and junior varsity roster.
Returning players are juniors Connor Bell, Ethan Johnson ’27, Raiden Vu ’26, Allen Gore ’26, Dylan Sandlin ’26, Hudson Roller ’25, Matthew Bessling ’26, Ashton Watts ’28, Reece Rector ’26, Daniel Zubillaga ’26, Sean Youngers ’25, Easton Bewely ‘28, Ryder Sandford ‘28, Carter Hayes ‘28, and Mason Vanns ‘28.
A huge feature is that some players on the team are on a Leadership team, including Roller, Youngers, Gore, Bell, Johnson, and Sandford.
“I would say I’m excited about the new talent from the younger kids,” Roller said. “It’s been much more promising this year with how many kids we got who are all relatively very good. I would say that I’m proud of seeing the people around me step up into a leadership position compared to some of the past years where they tended to avoid that.”
The closest district game was Nashville Christian, with a final score of 2-1, and NCS with the win. The Cougar’s district record last year was 5-2.
“I believe that we will be pretty solid again this year,” Sandford said.
The team is most looking forward to the district games because they will need the district overall for the state tournament.
I’m excited about the new opportunities that I have this season and proud of how much I have grown as a player and a person throughout my soccer career,” Youngers said.
The team hopes you can attend most of this year’s soccer games and support our Cougars as they attempt to qualify for the state tournament.
This year’s first scrimmage will be on Feb. 18 against the University School of Nashville, and the first district game will be on March 25 against Clarksville Academy.
