Goodpasture students will be traveling to Jamaica for a mission trip in 2025.
This trip is the Jamaica Mission Trip, which will take place from March 14 to 20. It will be in Lyssons, St. Thomas, Jamaica.
English Teacher Carmen McConnell will lead this trip for the second year in a row for Goodpasture.
This year’s trip includes Grant Sircy, McClain Bewley, Caroline Batson, Elyse Seats, Landon McConnell, Cole Simpson, Cooper Howell, Eaton Morgan, Rio Gilbert, Oliver Dixon, Kate Stephens, Lila Hughes, Anne Micheal Cottrell, Chandler Metcalfe, and Autumn Harris.
The team wants to complete projects to help the people of Jamaica and form relationships with students and faculty at a local school. The team will also spend time building relationships that already exist and creating new ones.
“I am most looking forward to building the projects we have planned and helping the people of Jamaica,” freshman Autumn Harris said.
The trip costs $1750 plus $50, which will be the students’ spending money that they will change over to Jamaican money before they leave.
The team’s main mission, other than working, is to be a friend and Christian example to the wonderful Jamaican people, to be the hands and feet of Jesus, and to help provide for some of their physical needs. They will both teach them and learn from them and will learn about and respect their culture.
