Graduation is creeping closer and closer to Goodpasture, and the closer it comes, the more seniors are preparing for the next step of their lives. As graduation approaches, the Paw Print staff reached out to GCS alumni to check in with them and see where they are today. The alumni offer life updates, advice, and reflections over the past few years of their lives.
Life offers many different paths and opportunities after high school.
“College is so different from high school!” Bailey Osborne, who graduated in 2023 says. “It’s really what you make it, and everything changes as you do.” Osborne is now attending Harding University for Event Management with a Marketing Minor.
Along with Osborne, Savannah Armstrong has blazed her own trail.
“Life after high school is honestly kind of fire,” Armstrong, who graduated in 2024 says. “You do what you want, with whoever you want, when you want. Nobody’s telling you how to live, you just live.”
Alumni find that life after high school is more freeing and filled with more opportunities than high school is.
“I’ve been given a lot more opportunities since graduating,” Class of 2022 Remi Petty says. “I have more free time and more friends than I did before.”
Although the alumni have been enjoying the opportunities life after high school brings, there are things they miss about Goodpasture.
“I definitely miss all of the lunches and hangouts that you get to have with your friends, laughing until you can’t breathe, and talking to teachers and building relationships with them,” Abigail Kindall, who graduated last year says.
Former students even admitted that Goodpasture had taught them lessons that had prepared them for their futures.
“I feel like Goodpasture prepared me in more ways than one,” Petty says. “Mrs. King’s English class prepared me for the English classes I had to take.” Petty is now attending Lipscomb University for a major in Nutrition.
Goodpasture kids have accomplished a lot since graduating, and they’re excited for what the future holds.
“I got married and it’s almost been a year now!” Gracen Osborne, a 2021 graduate says. “I’m also starting an internship this summer and hope to expand my skills!”
Along with them, Remi Petty has made strives in her academic career since graduating.
“I recently won a best presentation award for a dairy free, sugar free alternative ice cream I made in one of my classes.”
While alumni has adjusted to their new life styles, graduation for the class of 2025 is quickly coming. With two weeks until graduation, the GCS alumni signed off their interviews with advice for current GCS students.
“Some advice I would give is to try some new things and meet some new people,” Alec Brown, who is finishing his master’s degree in business and marketing at Freed Hardeman University, says. “If you don’t, you’ll never find out how good life can really get.
Along with Brown, Bailey Osborne gives her advice to the current GCS classes.
“College is truly what you make it out to be,” Osborne says. “College can be scary, but don’t let fear hold you back. Don’t care too much about what other people think about you, but really just work on your relationship with God. Trusting God and his timing takes a lot of worry away.”
Overall, life has been good for the Goodpasture Alumni, and while there are things they miss about Goodpasture, life outside of the GP bubble has been filled with fun and new opportunities.
