The 2024-2025 wrestling season is in full swing, with daily practices from 3:25 to 4:45. The team consists of 19 Goodpasture students, including three seniors. Last year, there were only eight members on the team.
All 19 students are Grant Sircy, Quinn Puckett, Issac Murphey, Landon McConnell, Kyle Pennington, Eaton Morgan, Xavier Martinez, Ty Fleak, Lucas McAuley, Bronson Norris, Mason Mckell, Cameron McGaughy, Santana Frost, Luka Pajdak-Harris, Sawyer Metcalfe, Wyatt Hayden, Luke Deming, Taeson Chang, and Dylan Aguilar.
Their first match was on Nov. 20, and they took home a big win.
“Last night was a glimpse of a great season,” senior Grant Sircy said of the Nov. 20 win.
Freshman Cameron McGaughy won his first match in his weight class of 113.
“This was an exciting start to the season,” McGaughy stated.
Their second was on Dec. 2 at Wilson Central where they lost 6-78 to Wilson and lost to Tullahoma 0-81.
They look forward to their next match on Thursday, Dec. 5 at Liberty Creek, where they will face Liberty Creek, Greenbrier High School, and Cheatham County.
Their first tournament will be at Harpeth High School on Saturday, Dec. 7.
Coach Enoch Hill, who’s coaching the wrestling team for his second year, looks forward to a successful season.
“I’m excited for this season because we have a much bigger team this year,” Coach Hill exclaimed.
