The infamous demi-god Maui makes a comical reappearance as well as Hei-Hei and Pua, two hilarious animal friends.
Moana is tasked to assemble a “wayfinding” crew to find the lost island of Motufetu, break its curse, and reconnect the people of the ocean.
Moana 2 introduces many new characters like Simea as Moana’s baby sister, and Moni, Kele, and Loto as members of Moana’s wayfinding crew.
One of the biggest heartwarming scenes in Moana 2 is when Moana connects all the people of the world together again. In this scene, Maui, Moana, and the “wayfinding” crew fight to get to the lost island of Motufetu, an island that is sunken in the South Pacific that connects all the islands and people. Moana has to fight Nalo, the god of lightning and thunder, to find and connect the island. Overall, it is an emotionally stirring scene when Moana reunites with all the people in her world.
While watching the film, my initial thoughts were how innocent this sequel movie is. There are fun songs, silly jokes, and colorful animation. Personally, I think this motion picture is a good fit for anyone because of its cuteness and plot.
There will definitely be a third movie because of the loose ends that need to be tied up. Although the Moana 3 movie hasn’t been announced, there is a high chance that it will be released in the future.
Moana 2 has so many more details and unexpected plot twists that one would not predict.
However, unlike the first movie, the songs did not meet its high expectations. Everyone knows the song “How Far I’ll Go” by heart. Although the songs in Moana 2 are enjoyable and lighthearted, they are just not as groundbreaking as the songs in Moana.
Moana 2 is currently in theaters and is expected to make its way to Disney Plus around February 2025.
Overall, Mona 2 is an amazing kid and teen-friendly movie that has unexpected twists and turns along with vibrant action.
